It is possible to bring the spirit of St. Patrick to your classroom without offending anyone's religious or cultural beliefs. St. Patrick is a historical figure, who has an interesting life and history. Additionally, the St. Patrick's buzz is the perfect opportunity to launch into a history of Ireland. Cultural and anthropological studies allow for the exploration of the St. Patrick's day traditions. Add variety to your reading program by bringing in Irish stories and folklore during the days and weeks leading up to St. Patrick's day. The adaptation of the holiday in the United States is a sociological and cultural study in itself. Using valid curriculum connections, the art and music of the Celts may be introduced into the classroom.

There are so many possibilities, the choices are limited only by your time, creativity, subject area, and grade. Explore the ideas below, and enjoy the celebration of St. Patrick's Day with your students.

History connections: The History of St. Patrick.

St. Patrick's Day celebrations come and go with with a flurry of activity, often overlooking the patron Saint of Ireland to whom the day pays tribute. Patrick was born in Kirkland, Scotland, in the year 387. His parents, Calphurnius and Conchessa. According to the Catholic Encyclopedia, his mother was a relative of St. Martin of Tours, patron saint of Gaul. Calphurnius was a Roman officer in Gaul.

At the age of sixteen, St. Patrick was captured by Irish invaders and carried to Ireland. He was sold to a tribe chieftain named Milchu, in Dalriada. He served as Milchu's slave for six years, tending his master's flocks in the valley of Braid. It was during his captivity, while tending the flocks, that he spent hours in prayer. He also mastered the Celtic language. While serving Milchu, he also learned of the Druid religion in which Milchu was a high priest.

After six years of labor, and communion with God, St. Patrick escaped and returned to his parents in Britain. Following the footsteps of his father, grandfather, and uncle, Patrick became active in the Church. More than family tradition, Patrick followed what he believed to be the call of God to become a minister. He became a deacon and a bishop in the Roman Catholic Church.

St. Patrick set his fate toward every opportunity of piety and service. He placed himself under the tutelage of St. Germain, of Moroni, where he began what would become his life's calling of ministering to the Irish. He rose to priesthood, but rather than remain in Ireland, he accompanied St. Germain on an important missionary journey back to Britain. It was on this journey that he experienced the miracles that would ensure his sainthood. A raging sea was miraculously calmed, and St. Patrick visited church relics at St. Alban's shrine. All the while, St. Patrick had visions of the Church in Ireland calling him back to minister to them.

He eventually returned to Ireland and worked to convert north and west Ireland to Christianity by speaking to them in their native tongue. Many accepted the Christian religion as their own, at some points various aspects of Druidism and Christianity combined. Often Christianity would create a celebration, feast, or holiday to offset the pagan activities of a given season.

It is on the Emerald Isle that St. Patrick is reported to have performed his own miracle, confirming his sainthood in the Roman Catholic Church. It is said that a druid priest raised his sword to kill St. Patrick. Upon lifting his sword, his arm became rigid and he was unable to harm St. Patrick. Much like an Old Testament story of Elijah at Mt. Caramel, St. Patrick attended a holy convocation of the Druids at which he anticipated the greatest opportunity to share his faith. The gathering was covered by thick, dark clouds. The druids tried incantations, offerings, and charms to remove the cloud covering. They could not. St. Patrick called upon God, and immediately the sun began to break through. The conversions that day struck a blow to the Druid religion. In another display of Druid faith versus Christianity a Druid priest floated through the air. He fell and was dashed to pieces when St. Patrick knelt in prayer. St. Patrick contended that the priests and Druids derived their powers from the devil. He pleaded with the Irish to have faith in God. One by one, Druids were converted.

St. Patrick continued to minister and serve in Ireland. As the isle became converted to Christianity he was given great latitude in preaching the ideas of redemption inherent in his religion. He was also given land by former Druid priests which were to be dedicated to God, and upon which cathedrals were eventually built.

Myth and legend surround the man and his ministry in Ireland. Some Irishmen believe that he will return to judge the Irish people at the end of time, because of his great love and sacrifice for them. Indeed, he is known as the patron saint of Ireland, and that is why the celebration of St. Patrick's Day is all about the little bit of Irish in all of us.

Questions for review.
1. Where was St. Patrick born? Did he have any connections to the Church even as a young child?
2. How did St. Patrick end up in Ireland the first time? Who did he work for and what did he do while he was there?
3. How did St. Patrick's experiences in Ireland as a child influence his future?
4. Under whom did St. Patrick study before becoming a priest?
5. Becoming a Saint in the Roman Catholic church requires great piety, and the performance and confirmation of miracles. What miracles are associated with St. Patrick?
6. St. Patrick was driven by an idea, and a dream. What did he believe was his life long calling?
7. Do you think St. Patrick's history is primarily truth or myth? Why?

Lesson ideas.
1. Have several encyclopedias and books available for the students to prepare a one page paper on the history of St. Patrick. Have them include St. Patrick's contributions to the people of Ireland, challenges he faced, and personal victories.
2. Share a brief history of St. Patrick with the students. Have them write a journal as if they were accompanying St. Patrick on his journeys through Ireland.
3. Research more about St. Patrick, and write a paper about positive virtues, morals, and actions that serve as a good role model for us today.
4. Investigate and write about the similarities of St. Patrick's experience with the Druids and Elijah's experience with the prophets of Baal on Mt. Caramel.

Make it real.
1. Create a Jeopardy game to review the history of St. Patrick.
2. Beautiful, ornate stained glass windows old cathedrals. Intricate, transparent stained glass pictures can be purchased at arts and crafts stores. Have the students work on coloring a “stained glass” window. Once finished, combine all of the work together to create a stained glass window in your room. Younger students can make one out of wax paper and crayons. The students should arrange crayon shavings on a piece of wax paper. Another piece is placed on top, and an adult melts the crayons with a hot iron.
3. Creative students, may enjoy drawing or creating a 3D cathedral. Supply plenty of pictures for guidance.

U.S. history connection: The Irish in America

St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland, so how did it end up that on this holy day in Ireland, March 17, that Americans all over the U.S. celebrate?

The first Irish who came to America came as indentured servants. By this time, the Irish were impoverished because of British colonization of the island. They came to America seeking a new chance in life. In 1845, disaster struck when crop after crop turned up rotten. Without their cash crop, and their primary food staple the Irish were in trouble. They immigrated to the U.S. in droves to escape famine. Those who stayed were determined to starve and die on their own land.

The first wave of immigrants began to work and earn money to send for their family. The peasants came empty handed, and willing to take whatever job they could find. America was in the business of building canals at the time, and the Irish picked up their shovels. Industry was beginning to grow in America, and many aspiring Americans were finding their fortune in business and industry, or were struggling on their own in agriculture. The Irish lacked knowledge and skill to join in the industrial revolution. They made their way at hard labor jobs with low pay.

The Irish stuck together, because from the start Americans feared them. Not only did they work the hardest jobs, their living conditions were crowded and unsanitary. Many fights broke out because of the conditions the Irish had to tolerate. Americans looked down on the Irish because of their living conditions, culture, and lifestyle.

The Irish were poor financially, but they tended to settle in clusters where other Irish lived for support and survival. Their unity allowed them to remain rich in culture, religion, and heritage. These characteristics, along with their strength and tenacity to overcome adversity are what we celebrate on St. Patrick's Day. From a people scorned in America, the Irish have become a people to whom we can look for strength, hard work, and spirituality. This is worth celebrating.

Lesson ideas.
1. Research the potato famine and the history of Irish immigration to the U.S.. Write a one page summary.
2. Use real potatoes to drive home important points about the Irish and their you organize this early, you may be able to sample some recipes on St. Patrick's Day.
3. Gather plenty of recipe books. Have the students pick a recipe made with potatoes. Compile a recipe book. If you assign this in advance, you may want to have a “Taste of Ireland” day.
4. Research immigration to the U.S. in the late mid to late 1800's. How were different groups of immigrants similar to the Irish? How were they different?
5. Imagine you are the son of an Irish immigrant who has gone ahead to America to find work, and pay passage for the family to America. What is it like in Ireland during the famine? What are your responsibilities? How do you feel? What is your outlook?

Poetry
St. Patrick only completed two written works in his lifetime. Among his recorded prayers are “St. Patrick's Breast-Plate” as follows:

I bind to myself today
The strong virtue of the Invocation of the Trinity:
I believe the Trinity in the Unity
The Creator of the Universe.

I bind to myself today
The virtue of the Incarnation of Christ with His Baptism,
The virtue of His crucifixion with His burial,
The virtue of His Resurrection with His Ascension,
The virtue of His coming on the Judgment Day.

I bind to myself today
The virtue of the love of seraphim,
In the obedience of angels.
In the hope of resurrection unto reward,
In prayers of Patriarchs,
In predictions of Prophets,
In preaching of Apostles,
In faith of Confessors,
In purity of holy Virgins,
In deeds of righteous men.

I bind to myself today
The power of Heaven,
The light of the sun,
The brightness of the moon,
The splendour of fire,
The flashing of lightning,
The swiftness of wind,
The depth of sea,
The stability of earth,
The compactness of rocks.

I bind to myself today
God's Power to guide me,
God's Might to uphold me,
God's Wisdom to teach me,
God's Eye to watch over me,
God's Ear to hear me,
God's Word to give me speech,
God's Hand to guide me,
God's Way to lie before me,
God's Shield to shelter me,
God's Host to secure me,
Against the snares of demons,
Against the seductions of vices,
Against the lusts of nature,
Against everyone who meditates injury to me,
Whether far or near,
Whether few or with many.

I invoke today all these virtues
Against every hostile merciless power
Which may assail my body and my soul,
Against the incantations of false prophets,
Against the black laws of heathenism,
Against the false laws of heresy,
Against the deceits of idolatry,
Against the spells of women, and smiths, and druids,
Against every knowledge that binds the soul of man.

Christ, protect me today
Against every poison, against burning,
Against drowning, against death-wound,
That I may receive abundant reward.

Christ with me, Christ before me,
Christ behind me, Christ within me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ at my right, Christ at my left,
Christ in the fort,
Christ in the chariot seat,
Christ in the poop ,
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks to me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.

I bind to myself today
The strong virtue of an invocation of the Trinity,
I believe the Trinity in the Unity
The Creator of the Universe.

Questions based on St. Patrick's Breastplate:
1. Based on his prayer, what did St. Patrick believe about his God? What attributes or characteristics did his God possess?
2. Who or what were the enemies he prayed against?

4. Based on the prayer, what expectations do you think St. Patrick has of his God?
5. How does St. Patrick describe God, using poetic language?

Myths & Folklore
Find a book of Irish tales. Share one or two with the students. Stories of fairies, heroes, and saints fill the myths and legends of Ireland. There are so many great stories, you may have difficulty choosing one or two. You may find some stories that you would like to incorporate into your reading curriculum.

The following website has stories, myths, and legends to choose from: http://www.irelandnow.com/myths.html
You may want to select something by Jonathan Swift, Bram Stoker, Oscar Wilde, George Bernard Shaw, William Butler Yeats, Samuel Beckett, or any of many other well known Irish writers.

Make it Real:
Have students find Irish stories prior to the day you study the Irish and St. Patrick's Day. Allow them to share with the class.

Cultural Connections.

The use of symbolism in our culture is important to understand. Signs and symbols are often used in place of words to represent an ideas or concepts. This idea can be explored using the symbols of St. Patrick's Day.

shamrock – Said to have been used by saints of Ireland to teach about the Trinity of their God
Green – the color that represents the Emerald Isle; called such because of its lush green, rolling hills — It is also a color that represents growth and hope
Beer drinking – a part of most St. Patrick's Day celebrations; a celebration of the culture of the Irish from whom we get many fine ales
parades – another celebration and memorial of Irish culture
leprechauns – creature of Irish mythology; it is considered a type of male fairy, which is another common character in Irish legends

You may want to brainstorm other symbols associated with the holiday and investigate their meaning.

Extra Credit Challenge

Long Way from Home

We don't know about you but when the spec sheet of our next test rig lists the frame color as flat black, we can't help but get a little anxious. And while Marin may not be the first brand to come to mind when considering a new bike here on the east coast, the Mount Vision Pro was surprisingly adept. Would we make it our next do-it-all mountain bike? Read on to find out.

Lets Talk Specs

Our Element 18 inch Easton aluminum frame came equipped with Marzocchi's Grand Fondo Race 3 (105mm) of frontal squish and a (100mm) Fox Float R (rebound adjust) in the rear. Like the frame, Easton is responsible for the bar, stem, and seatpost. Shimano Deore shifters and front derailleur mate with an XT rear. Braking is accomplished via Hayes Sole hydraulic discs front and rear. Finally IRC Serac XC tires come wrapped around sturdy Alex DP17 rims. Total weight was a tad over 29 lbs.

Spilling the Specs

Our test unit still wore a showroom sticker indicating a four and a half thousand dollar price tag and came equipped as follows: Suspension duties at 4 inches on each end were handled by a Fox Forx Float F100RLT (3.9 in) and a Fox Float RL (4 in) riding on Marin's Quad-link linkage. Braking was accomplished by Shimano's XTR group (levers on down to hydraulic discs), with both derailleurs, chain rings, cassette, and cranks all coming from the XTR component bin as well. Easton provided such components as the Monkey Lite SL Carbon riser bar and EC 70 Carbon post. WTB Rocket V Ti saddle and Crank Brothers Eggbeaters rounded out the package. Mavic X717 wheels came wrapped in WTB Moto Raptors and our 6061 aluminum frame came in the medium (17.5 inch) size.

Quad-What?

The first thing that has likely snagged your attention (after the beautiful flat black color scheme) is likely the rear suspension design. It looks, well, too simple and clean to be anything other than a single pivot design, right? Wrong. A closer look reveals a hidden surprise; the axle itself has the ability to pop free of its holds and fully extend the shock with aggressive pedaling. What's really keeping the rear of the Marin suspended is a cleverly crafted (and well disguised) virtual pivot point 4-bar (parallel) linkage with an on-the-fly-adjusting wheel to shock ratio. Confused? Don't be, we'll get to all of this later.
Initial Impressions

Climbing into the Mount Vision Pro's cockpit revealed a lot of what was to follow out on the trails. The bike feels light initially, so much so that our test riders found themselves bouncing the top tube between their thighs after stepping over. At 24 and a half pounds the Mount Vision is much lighter then its beefy exterior would indicate at a glance. Standing on the ground while looking over the Easton's riser bar makes the Marin feel a bit more All Mountain in nature; wide bars, slack head angle, and some pretty mean looking tire tread. It isn't until sliding back onto the saddle that the bike begins to reveal it's more cross country inspired heritage; Eggbeater pedals, a rearward (1.5 in) offset seat post and long reach to the bars. We set up the suspension (which despite following Fox's explicit recommendations, still felt soft in the rear) and hit the trails.

Trail Talking

The Marin's light weight and flickable mannerisms made tossing it around the singletrack an absolute joy. Perhaps it was just us, but thanks to the rearwardly offsetting seat post, the reach to the bars felt a bit longer then necessary. Two test riders had commented that they found themselves compensating for this sensation by pedaling out of the saddle more often than they're used to. Other than those complaints, everyone reported enjoying the bike's trail manners on the twisting hard pack. Technical terrain also favored the Fox Float suspension balance. A soft feeling rear end absorbed all but the largest boulders without pulling the fork too far into the top of its travel. In fact four inch combination surprised even our veteran All Mountain aficionados by offering a pretty progressive package.

Braking was spot on, although initial burn in gave the bike a few episodes of squeal. Just as we were about to check the alignment of the disc within the caliper, the noise mysteriously vanished and never resurfaced. Shifting was clean and precise (as we're accustomed to with the Shimano XTR group) and even inspired an afternoon's worth of water crossings with our usually happy-to-be-dry testers.

So what about that Quad Link rear suspension we talked about earlier? As much as we wanted to write the system off as a sales gimmick, the reality is that it worked for us quite well. In plain English the system equates to a bike that's wheelbase fluctuates instantaneously as the rear wheel passes over obstacles. On the trails this results in the feeling of rolling over square-edge surfaces rather than slamming into them. If you ride in the technical stuff, this system will pay dividends. The system also proved very valuable on both climbs and descents. Out of the saddle hammering never caused the Fox Float to bob and weave yet the suspension remained active (especially on high speed g-outs that usually gobble up all of the travel of our air sprung shocks). The only detectable downside to the Quad Link is that there is a slight tugging sensation that appears out on the flats. According to our research this is common and caused by the axle's ability to shift within its hold. Apparently when pedaling forces aren't severe enough to keep the axle centered, rearward motion of the axle causes the chain to slightly tug on the cranks. A small trade-off for all of the gains offered by the set-up? Absolutely.

What Do We Really Think?

We would be lying if we said that the Marin Mount Vision Pro didn't excite our staffers. Considering that the company's name refers to Marin County California, there is a good deal of East Coast spunk alive in this shadowy sprinter. We have no malfunctions to report or equipment failures, even after forcing the Mount Vision down along a rock laden cliff face a dozen consecutive times. About the only complaint voiced by all of our testers was the pretty steep sticker price. We believe one test rider put it best: “At close to five grand, this beast is definitely beyond my budget, but it has got me considering the much more budget friendly Marin East Peak when it comes time to go shopping. The great functioning Fox Float/Quad Link system and less than half the price ($1,899). Who can argue with that?”
Certainly not us.

With all of the stories about injuries and deaths of children, and the constant recalls you see on store shelves of baby items, it's hard to know what is best. It's especially difficult when you're buying used items for your child. Thrift stores and yard sales provide low to medium income parents across the world the ability to afford all of essentials and extras babies need and want. However, it's not always the safest way to go when choosing items for youngsters. When visiting the infant's section at one the local Walmarts, my husband and I saw at least two recalls on cribs and play items. One can never forget the death of 11-month-old Euan Allessandro Artus-Elston in August of 2007 due to a defective Century playpen (includes Century Fold-N-Go Model 10-710 and Century Fold-N-Go Model 10-810 , which are green and blue with white railing, and read “Century” and “Fold-N-Go” visible in white letters). An 18-month-old boy in Centreville, Virginia, died when his Century play yard collapsed on him restricting his airway as well, this is what led to the recall in the United States. There have been recalls on bassinets and swings as well as cribs recently. It doesn't mean that you can't buy previously owned baby items, it means that you should be as careful when buying them as you are with your baby's other health issues.

When you go to a yard sale and purchase anything for your child, always look the item over extremely well. You'll want to look for manufacturer information such as company name and the model number of the product. If there's not even a name on it, then you probably don't want to buy it. When you know who made the item, you can take it home and call them in order to make sure it is safe for baby to use. Asking the seller can also provide incite into the age and safety of children's products. Someone who doesn't know anything about an item, tells you that it is very old, or that they've had it for a long time lets you know that it probably isn't a good idea to use it. Checking online also helps you to find information on baby products and safety ratings. Some helpful websites are www.babycenter.com/product-recall-finder, www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/category/child.html, www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/category/toy.html, and babyproducts.about.com/od/recallsandsafety/a/prodrecalls.htm. Avoid any manufacturers who are no longer in business. If you buy something used and find out that they have gone out of business or can't be located, don't use the product. Companies will usually send you prepaid postage in order to send products back and refund your money as well.

In looking the baby gear over, check for tears, cracks, and missing parts. If it's something that is supposed to operate, turn it on to see if it's functioning properly. You don't want to give your baby anything that they can pull off or that will fall off, it presents a choking hazard. Clothing should be free of strings, loose buttons, zippers, or sharp parts. Toys should always be referenced for lead amounts and hazards. Look for recommended age guidelines on toys especially to make sure it is something your child should be using. Any play pens, cribs, bassinets, swings, or tubs that fold or collapse need to be seen in operation. Put the item up and down, and put pressure on folding parts to see if they are weak. Examining latches and parts will give you a good idea as to whether the item is secure or not.

Thrift stores and yard sales are good places to buy items at a discount, but you don't want to risk safety over price. Some parents may feel more comfortable buying from more established second-hand boutiques which specialize in children's items. This is a good idea, because these places usually take only newer baby items and also try to keep track of recalls when tagging and pricing merchandise. Nothing in parenting is risk-free or fool-proof, even the most protective parents know that all you can do is try to be informed and safe with your baby. Accidents and deaths because of defective products will hopefully be a thing of the past with parents, authorities, and companies cooperating for the safety of our children.

I love to share about my experiences with my baby products. After all, nothing is more important. I would like to tell you about the best baby product that I think I have ever bought. It is the Graco Pack n' Play Portable Playard. Only it is not just a play yard it also has an incorporated bassinet and changing table.

The fact that it has all three is so cool! I have owned and seen ones that have the bassinet that sits on top but this is the first time I have ever seen one that also has a changing table. I was really thrilled. I saved a lot of space in a room that was small. It was so very convenient from day one. The bassinet is removable for when they get older and you want to put them in the playpen. The bassinet itself is just perfect for the baby to sleep in until he or she gets old enough that they have to be in a crib. I also like the fact that the bassinet has a nice cushy bumper pad around it.

The changing table snaps on and off and it also has a handy storage compartment on it for diapers and other things. This really comes with everything, it has a night light, a music box that plays songs or soothing nature sounds. The mattress even has vibration! Sometimes I am jealous of my baby's comfy little nest! I think I would like to have all of those features on my bed now that I am grown. But seriously, the music, soft light, and vibration helps her fall asleep faster and with less fuss. It is only for little babies however, you will soon need to move them to a crib or a deeper bassinet. It comes with a mobile with some very cute toys to help further amuse your baby.

I think that they put every single thing on this combination set that they could think of. It is just great. It is also very easy to fold up and put in the transport bag so taking it along with me is no problem at all. We have taken it on vacation and even short trips to grandmas. It also has wheels so you can move it around the house easily. I almost forgot to mention the looks of it, it is just overall cute and the pattern is adorable. It does take a little time to set up but I did that for the baby was born so it was really no problem.

The price was great when you consider that you are getting a three-in-one product. I gave only $130 for it. All of the things I mentioned above for only $130, I still find it hard to believe that I got that lucky. I would like to recommend this to all expectant moms. You will not know until you have one of your own how cool it is and how much convenience and it will add to your life.

Remote controlled vehicles come in all types and sizes. There are RC cars, trucks, boats and even aircraft. Kids, teens and adults all love these toys, and because of this there is a huge RC culture that has developed. Each year dozens of new remote control toys are released. Most of these toys are safe and fun, however, a few have problems that can lead to injuries and property damage. Below is a list of four remote controlled toys that have been recalled in recent years. If you have one of these toys you need to either fix the problem or return them to their manufacturer for a refund.

Helix Remote Control Micro Helicopter

The first remote controlled toy that has been recalled is the Helix Remote Control Micro Helicopter. This toy was sold between July of 2006 and November of 2006 by a variety of vendors. It has been estimated that there are about 46,200 affected units related to this recall. The problem that this toy has is that its power supply controller has a tendency to overheat. In fact, it can overheat to a point where it can burn your skin or even cause the unit to burst into fire. So far there have been eleven overheating problems, two fires and one burn injury reported.

NIKKO America Remote Control Truck Recall

NIKKO America has also broadcasted a recall for a series of their 1/10 scale remote control trucks. There are four remote control trucks affected by this recall. They include the Chevy Avalanch (10021A), the Hummer Wagon (100023A and 100023B), the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (100022A and 1000022B) and the Ford F150 (100023A and 100023B). These models were sold between April of 2003 and January of 2004 and cost about $60 a piece.

Champion HX242 Electric Power Helicopter

There was another remote controlled helicopter recalled, and it was the Champion HX242 Electric Power Helicopter. This item was sold by ThinkGeek.com starting in November of 2006. There are about 1,600 units affected by this recall. This time the problem is a defective battery that has a tendency to overheat. It too can causing burn injuries and fires.

Redcat Racing FM Remote Control Vehicle

The Redcat Racing FM Remote Control Vehicle. This remote controlled toy has a unique problem. Its remote control unit has a tendency to lose its signal. If you love fast-paced cars, good for you, because there are virtually radio controlled vehicles of all shapes and sizes. If you are a really serious race car enthusiast, then you will find that hobby miniature cars found on general store shelves cannot satisfy your cravings for a real sports RC car. Those are toys and you definitely want something more than that. It is true that some of these cars have amazing functionality and calling them toys is somehow degrading since some are even modeled in existing car models. However hobby radio controlled vehicles offer more than that. A hobby level car will offer interactive features that include working lights, detailed interiors and even radios that play mp3 tracks. If you are thinking, 'that is great', then you are ready to jump into the deep end of radio controlled vehicles.

RC cars use radio signals to remotely control the vehicle and do a bunch of things. From the first radio controlled small boat back in 1898, radio control has come a long way and today's cars are advanced pieces of ingenuity. Using small but powerful electric motors and rechargeable nickel-cadmium cells, these small machines appeal to both the young and the old. Radio controlled vehicles are easy to operate and have relatively low danger level with most not exceeding 20 miles per hour making them safe even for very small 'adults'. Because most are modeled after real-life cars, enthusiasts are more likely to enjoy the variety that comes with it. In addition to common car models, there are also radio controlled versions of trucks, bulldozers, tanks and motorcycles which increases the number of 'odd' vehicles that you can have in your collection with some unorthodox designs in the picture as well.

If you are looking for speed-hungry radio controlled vehicles, then consider hobby race cars. These cars are powered by the nitro fuel and their tiny combustion engines will sound much like real cars do. However, the fuel is far from cheap. For those looking for big honking monsters, a gas-powered engine might just be the solution. Depending on the design, these cars are much larger and have better performance than nitro-powered cars. One advantage that nitro and gas-powered models have is that they are air-cooled meaning that they can be raced continuously and only need to stop for fuel ups. Electric models need to cool down otherwise they gonna burn out some component. When purchasing a radio controlled car, consider the model, the design, how it is powered and where you want it run, whether on or off-road. Whatever the decision you make, I can assure that you will have fun with any of the radio controlled vehicles. Let the fun begin!

Navy blue velour sweatpants
Gold diamond hoop earrings
A curly or tousled hairstyle

Put on your dark navy blue velour sweatpants and tie the tie in front.

If you have blonde highlights in your hair that will work with this outfit.

The Sylvania NB530SLX Blu-ray Disc Player is a very fun Blu-ray Disc Player to use. It can be found at Amazon.com for an affordable low price of $159.99 which is 20% off the retail price. It comes in a very sheek black which goes with any room décor.

We have had our Sylvania Blu-ray Disc Player for about 6 months now and it can't beat. I did my usual comparison shopping and found the best deal at Amazon. I purchased it and in no time I received it via UPS. I was amazed at how lightweight it was. It weighs a mere 6.7 pounds and even packaged weighs only about 10 pounds.

The Sylvania Blu-ray Disc Player has many great features to offer the buyer. It comes with full HD playback and also has a PIP with sound feature. This definitely comes in handy around our house when we have more than one child wanting to watch television. Or when it is football season and we have more than one favorite team playing. I know that being a female I love this feature watching more than only watching one reality TV show at a time so I am sure all the men will love it.

The Sylvania Blu-ray Disc Player also comes with a 1.1 Bonus profile, Dolby Digital plus and an advanced user interface. I don't know if we have used all of these but we have used most of them and haven't found one negative thing wrong yet. We already have the surround sound, Wii and DVR box so I was skeptical at first if it was even going to fit into our little cubby hole, but with the dimensions of only 12 x 17.2 x 2.4 inches it fit very well into my little cubby hole.

I was able to get the Sylvania NB530SLX Blu-ray Disc Player out of the box and set up within 10 minutes. The box was easy to open and there was simple easy to follow instructions that even came with a picture diagram to follow to know which cable hooked where. It was no time that we had our Sylvania NB530SLX Blu-ray Disc Player up and running. It has been running for more than a year now and we have no problems with it.

I would definitely recommend the Sylvania NB530SLX Blu-ray Disc Player to anyone looking for a good name brand at an affordable cost.
